Welcome to Curriculum & Assessment Lab Classrooms
The Curriculum & Assessment Lab classes are unique settings for the research and development of interactive teaching practices. C & A's focus is on a highly integrated curriculum that takes into consideration the needs, interests and backgrounds of the students. Students participate in an interactive and cooperative learning community. They find purpose and meaning in their education as they make learning choices and set their own learning goals. C & A's multi-level class configurations are: 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, and 7th/8th.

Jill Harman receives the Good Citizenship Award at the Naturalization Ceremony from the Daughters of the American Revolution
May 28, 2009 - Jill Harman, 1st/2nd grade C&A teacher, received the Good Citizenship Award at the Naturalization Ceremony from the Daughters of the American Revolution. Over the last several years, Jill has brought her class to be a part of one of the Naturalization Ceremonies with a performance of patriotic songs. As the 1st and 2nd graders belt out "The Star Spangled Banner" to the new United States citizens, there is not a dry eye in Rose Wagner Theatre. Jill was honored with this award following the class' performance for her tireless and rewarding efforts to instill good citizenship, musical tradition and patriotism in her students.
Laura Hamilton wins "Teacher Feature Award" from KSL NewsRadio and Zion's Bank
April 2009 - Laura Hamilton, 5th/6th grade C&A teacher, received the "Teacher Feature Award" from KSL NewsRadio and Zion's Bank, on Friday. Each teacher that is chosen is honored with a plaque from Zions Bank, an overnight stay at Anniversary Inn, a gift certificate for dinner at the La Caille Restaurant, and a pair of season tickets from Hale Centre Theater, West Valley. All winners are invited to attend an end of the year banquet at La Caille in their honor.
KCPW Interview with Joan Reynolds about C & A Lab
(KCPW News) Public school districts are courting parents attracted to the variety of options available at charter and private schools by creating specialized programs. The Curriculum and Assessment Lab at Salt Lake City School District is one of these, with a unique curriculum and mixed-age classrooms. KCPW's Elizabeth Ziegler spoke with the recently retired assessment supervisor for the district, Joan Reynolds, about the program and its plans to expand.
